Xi'an Terra Cotta Warriors and horses, Silk Road
Located at 20km. to the east of Lintong County of Shanxi province. It was buried
with the first Emperor Qin's (BC259-210) mausoleum to protect the emperor after
his death. In 1974, it was started to be excavated and since 1979 it has
functioned as a museum. The Terra Cotta Warriors and horses pits consist of
three pits, situated in the west and facing the east, one is in the front and
the other two are behind it. In the pits, total more than seven thousand pieces
of terra-cotta warriors, more than one hundred pieces of terra-cotta chariots,
more than four hundred pieces of terra-cotta horses and hundreds of thousands of
weapons have been.
